Wild About Whales NSW posted this incredible footage of a humpback whale feeding just feet away from docked boats.

We were absolutely blown away by how enormous the whale is in relation to the surrounding environment; seeing it in context like this is so surreal. We have also never seen a whale this close up and in so much detail. What a treat!

According to Wild About Whales, humpback whales engulf their prey by using their massive mouth and baleen plates as a sieve to filter out water while swallowing small fish and krill.

If you are in the Sydney area and plan to go whale-watching, we can highly recommend Wild About Whales.

This footage was taken in Knudsen Cove, Ketchikan, Alaska by Alaska Strike Zone Sportfishing
